Kathy Cox, ESL Instructor
Kathy has lived in Anderson Valley since 1983. Prior to moving to Anderson Alley she was a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras. She thanks the campesinos of Honduras and the Mexican people for helping her to become bilingual and opening her eyes to the reality and beauty of Latin America. She was the Health Educator at the Anderson Valley Health Center for eight years. She taught Spanish and ESL at Anderson Valley High School for twenty years, and Spanish at the Hong Kong International School in Hong Kong for four years. Since retiring from Anderson Valley High School in 2011 she has taught ESL and Spanish at the AV Adult School and Mendocino College. She has a BS in sociology from USF, a Masters in Public Health Education from UC Berkeley and a teaching credential through Dominican College.
She is the mother of two daughters and grandmother to six grandchildren. Kathy, along with her deceased husband Jerry, has been involved with the Spanish speaking community in Anderson Valley for forty years. She is a founding member and current co-chair of the Anderson Valley Housing Association and serves on the Board of the Anderson Valley Health Center. In her spare time she loves to walk, swim, cook, read and socialize with her friends.
